Florida somehow gets little mention it seems. My maternal great grandfather was in Milton's artillery. My namesake was in the Richmond Howitzers so field artillery is in my blood.
The 2nd Florida Cavalry Union is unique in several ways. It was composed almost entirely of Confederate defectors. It was founded not by the Union Army but by the Union Navy. It was the only Unionist regiment that fought alongside a USCT regiment.
