Miles Greenwood produced cannon for the Union Army and converted thousands of arms which were issued to Ohio troops. The 41st Ohio carried Greenwood conversions at Shiloh and the 51st Ohio at Perryville.

He also produced 24 cannon ( 2 6-pdr and 2 12-pdr batteries) for the newly formed Ohio National Guard in 1864. they were likely the first pieces of new equipment purchased for the ONG. Currently 11 of the 24 are surviving, 4 are on the Ohio State House grounds in Columbus, 1st Ohio Battery A has the privilege of working with these guns, one of the 6-pdrs is in my avitar photo.

Some additional items on Greenwood
When Gattling was not able to convince the Army do do trials on his gun, General Butler purchased 12 gattlings with his own funds. Gattling went to Greenwood to manufacture the guns. Greenwood foundry was a favorite target of Confederate sympathisers in Kentucky. Just after the 12 guns for Butler were completed, the sympathisers set fire to the foundry, destroying the Gattling guns and doing about $100,000 damage to the foundry.
