Merrill and Greene photo requests

Anyone in or around Baltimore, please make a trip to the cemetery and find the Merrill plot and JWB.

I gotta see a photo of that lever opened up, please. It looks to me like the aging process has sealed shut that lever, or it's the best fitting lever ever made. It just looks like it hasn't been opened in a hundred years.

I am in Chickamauga today and they have two Merrill conversions...I willPost pix tonight, these are from the famous Fuller Collection at Chickamauga NPS. 82C1132D-2AAB-4A8E-B347-634E0F3E3FA5.jpeg926EA524-7517-4656-BAF8-8B20952763DF.jpegCF054C7B-67E6-4152-A21C-BE0E84C06346.jpeg6E721105-8EE7-4FC7-80EE-C663E763FF27.jpeg

SJU5, thanks so much for the photos. Did you take any pics of the serials? On first and early second models, serials were in both places, and I have tried best I can to request those photos.

John, if possible, please snap these extra pics. A beauty indeed you have.

- lever with serial, lever opened all the way and showing the breech and plunger arm, overhead rear sight (might have part number), underside lever and plunger arm (part numbers), opened patchbox, underside of trigger guard and plate (might have part number inside lower area of the guard).

Thanks for posting 4396. Any chance you could also share any history, as in where you purchased it or was in the family so long?

Para, do you have the cartridges and box, or did you find the pic online? If own, would you be open to an offer?

Photos That I can take without stripping will take awhile due to my wife's illness right now. Purchased from J&J Military a little over two years ago. Do you have articles from "Gun Report May 1959 and July/Aug 2001"? If not send me a private message with your mailing info and I'll copy a bunch , again may take a while. John

OK here are some new pix I took today AFTER a light spray of Ballistol. The one NEW thing I found was a nice US marking on the bayonet. As you can see the gun does still cock.

Email reply from a kind administrator at Greenmount Cemetery:

I do have James H Merrill located here at Green Mount, he is listed as be in our V V Section Lot 112. Unfortunately we are currently located in a temporary trailer while our office is having work done so I am unable to access the files for the next few weeks. Once I am able to access the files I would be happy to let you know if there is any information available. If you would like copies of his lot card, interment card or photos of his Stones please print out the request form found on our website. Any checks or money orders can be made out to Green Mount Cemetery. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank You,

Nicole Roberts

Anyone in Baltimore willing and able to make a cemetery trip to find James H. Merrill's family plot, take some photographs and share, and while you're there find John Wilkes Booth's grave site as well?
