If you study the Atlanta Campaign you have heard of this guy. Born in Belgium he moved to the area around Cave Springs, Georgia in 1848.
His artillery battery was on the salient in the Confederate line at Resaca and was captured.
After the war he was an architect and designed Union Station which was the train station that replaced the Car Shed that was destroyed in the burning of Atlanta. He also designed several other Atlanta structures. He died in 1911 and was buried in Oakland Cemetery with a relatively obscure and simple headstone.
He was recently given a veteran stone
