"Mary Had a Little Lamb" A humorous version of "The Battle Cry of Freedom", which became popular with Union soldiers on the march. The version went as follows:

"Mary had a little lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow,
Shouting the battle cry of Freedom,
And everywhere that Mary went,
The lamb was sure to go,
Shouting the battle cry of Freedom."

From The Language of the Civil War by John D. Wright page 188.
