March 10, 1864 - Skirmish in White County, TN, with Union Cavalry; the Rebels are forced to retreat with casualties on both sides during Col. John M. Hughs', CSA, Confederate operations in Middle Tennessee.

March 10, 1864 - Skirmishes near Charlestown and at Kabletown, WV, where the superior Union force pursuing Lieut. Col. John S. Mosby, CSA gets the worst of this engagement.

March 10, 1865 - Engagement at Monroe's Crossroads, SC, where Brig. Gen. Hugh Judson Kilpatrick, USA, defeats Lieut. Gen. Wade Hampton, CSA.

March 10, 1865 - Now near Fayetteville, North Carolina, the major impediment to Sherman's Army march north was rain.

March 10, 1913 - Harriet Tubman [Araminta Ross], American abolitionist, former slave and humanitarian (Underground Railroad), dies at about 91 in Auburn, NY.

March 10, 2009 - The National Museum of American History opens a watch owned by President Abraham Lincoln and discovers a message written by watchmaker Jonathan Dillon dated April 13, 1861 stating "Fort Sumpter was attacked by the rebels. Thank God we have a government."

Today marks the 157th​ anniversary of the Battle of Monroe's Crossroads. This battle took place on March 10, 1865. Location of the Battle was Hoke County North Carolina near Fayetteville North Carolina. Another name for this battle is Battle of Fayetteville Road.
