Does anybody know of any active Confederate reenactment unites in the Sand Diego/South California area? I have no prior reenacting experience so a newbie freindly unit is a preference! :D

Thanks,
Nick

I don't know of any units personally but, I have a hunch that "Cleburne's Division" (re-enactors), who organize and register re-enactors in past big events, might have contacts for that area.

Another avenue to inquire--is "Longstreet's Division" re-enactors.

Re-enactment group -- Hood's Division, General Jack King commanding, is out of Texas so they might know of re-enactment groups on the west coast.

How about southern california group? http://www.acws.net/index.htm I'm not vouching for authenticity. I am only noting an organization based on geography. Something you will notice is that few events are in San Diego. Like everyone else everywhere in the hobby, you're going to be doing some driving to get to events.
I'm familiar with that site, and I don't mind a little road trip :D

Mess around on Facebook as well.I know guys on there that live in LA that are pretty heavy into the hobby.I was invited to join the 33rd Tenn from a guy in LA,so there is activity goin on out your way.Cant say anything about SD but I know LA has units, and I know that the 33rd Tn is darn authentic.

Just clickin around I ran across a Confederate unit just forming in southerncal. The 2nd Forida,co I "Hamilton blues"

Plus, the 2nd Florida has quite a few different companys in and around Florida as well

Well I am new so I don't know if that would be best but thanks for the suggestion!

This is the best way to go especially for someone new. There are pitfalls you can fall into buying gear and equpment and you don't want to surround yourself with people who have done no research on their impressions. You can go to a sutler at a mainstream event and spend $X amount of money and end up with an unrealistic, unauthentic group like this: http://civilwartalk.com/threads/confusing.92578/
Then you have to turn around and buy quality gear which means you just spent double.
