The certificate above was engraved and printed by the National Bank-Note Company. It is for ten shares in the New Orleans & North Eastern Railroad Company. General James Longstreet was named president of the newly organized New Orleans and Northeastern Railroad in 1870. His signature is visible on the certificate.

Interesting find,not one of our usual posts.
 
The engraving on the certificate is surely an image of a train on the Lake Pontchartrain bridge, later owned and upgraded by Southern Railway, then Norfolk Southern, and still used daily by the Amtrak Crescent.
