Reading the book and find Pfarr’s arguments compelling. Personally, looking back at high stress combat operations and my actions are now somewhat blurred by reflection. Applying this insight, I understand the possibility that recollections (timing of events, what was actually said, what was actually inferred, etc.) can be clouded by time. Was Lee truly out of character during the battle? Did Lee specifically direct McLaws’ placement thus violating a Corps commanders authority? Are there any incidents such as this to support Lee’s specific placement of McLaws’? Would be interested in reading thoughts on the book.
