It's ironic that the CSA unit in front of me is flying a KY Vol battle flag, because I am from Kentucky and have three ancestors that were in the war, all Union. Two in the 14th KY, eventually sent south and was in the Atlanta Campaign, 2nd Div, 23 Corps. Received a commendation from what I can gather for their action at Kolb's Farm, day before Kennesaw Mountain. After taking Atlanta, they were sent west and were at Franklin where again, ironically, were shipped out by rail to Louisville, the night before the Battle of Franklin. My other ancestor that served was in the 39th KY, Mounted Inf, served primarily in the mountains in KY, WV, TN.
All three made it home.
