Civil war encampment set for Aug. 24 in Lockeford
Step back in time to the 1860s in the third annual Living History and Civil War Encampment on the grounds of the historic Old Lockeford Schoolhouse on Saturday, Aug. 24.
The event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the old school grounds as 19456 N. Jack Tone Road in Lockeford.
Dressed in replica Union and Confederate uniforms, people portraying soldiers will create military camps, drill and march as soldiers and fire off volleys from period black powder muskets. There will also be camps representing the Indian wars and Mountain Man period of our history.
The Lockeford Lions Club will sell pulled pork sandwiches. The old Lockeford School will be open for viewing. This event is presented by the Lockeford Historical Society and the 2nd South Carolina Voluntary Infantry.
