Could be, it would have been nice if the court house was in the image.I'm pretty sure the building in the background now houses Square Books and Neilson's
That's the same location, but not the same building. The structure Square books is in now was built post war and is cement or brick&plaster. I think the original building was burned or severely damaged by A.J. Smith's troops.I'm pretty sure the building in the background now houses Square Books and Neilson's
What Company did they become?
This isn't the University Greys?

I couldn't tell you.I thought Named Companies became Lettered Companies upon formalized mustering-into-service?
Company K of the 30th Mississippi was called the Dixie Boys.
Are you talking about me?
It was just the opposite. The companies formed first and selected their Name and then they sought a Regiment that needed more companies. If you review the service records of soldiers, you will see their first card may be a company name or simply Capt. Smith's Company. Then later on, the name of the unit at the top will be Company A. If you read the archive notations on the soldier's service records, it will give a history of changes the company during the war.
I'm confused about the "talking about you".
In any event, I had an uncle in company K of the 30th MS.

I thought no one would catch that remark.
My CWT NAME is Dixie Rifles---which is the name of Company K of the 29th Mississippi Regiment.
BTW, that is my website that you linked to. I choose the name Dixie Boys for my Civil War Main Menu webpage. My Gr-Grandfather was in 30th Mississippi, Company A, Neill's Guards.
But I choose the Name Dixie Rifles for this CWT Forum.
Main Menu Dixie Boys: http://custermen.com/DixieBoys/Menu.htm.
My wife's GGG Grandfather was also a member of 30th Mississppi, Company A. He was captured at Chickamauga and died at Camp Douglas of Typhoid Fever.
