William and Ida Saxton McKinley were married in Jan. 1871. They had two daughters who died when very young.
So many of our presidents have had personal tragedies when comes to their families.
Katherine McKinley was born on Christmas Day, 1871 She died of typhoid fever in 1875. There is Memorial to her on Find A Grave. The second child, Ida was born April 1873 and died in August 1873. There is also Memorial to her on Find A Grave. Mrs. McKinley never got over her children's death. She had a lot depression and also developed epilepsy. William McKinley was a devoted husband who tended to his wife's medical and emotional needs for the rest of his life.
Mrs. McKinley never got over her husband's death. She was cared for by a sister and visited Mr. McKinley's grave everyday. She died a few years later and is buried with her husband and children There are Memorials to President McKinley and to his wife Ida on Find A Grave. All of the Memorials are worth checking.
