June 19, 1861 - Pro-Unionists of Virginia meet in Wheeling, WV, to elect Francis Henry Pierpont as the provisional governor of the potential new state of West Virginia.

June 19, 1862 - Lincoln signs the bill forbidding slavery in U. S. Territories.

June 19, 1862 - Federal expedition to the Blue Mountains and skirmish near Knight's Cove, AR, with Rebel guerrillas.

June 19, 1862 - Skirmish on the Charles City Road, near Richmond, VA, as Col. William L. Brown, USA, 20th IN Infantry withdraws.

June 19, 1862 - Skirmish near Winchester, VA.

June 19, 1863 - The siege of Vicksburg is ongoing.

June 19, 1863 - The siege of Port Hudson is ongoing.

June 19, 1863 - Lieut. Col. James F. Curtis, of the 4th California Infantry, is assigned to the command the District of Southern CA, relieving Col. Ferris Forman.

June 19, 1863 - Confederate raid on Bayou Goula, LA.

June 19, 1863 - Maj. Gen. Edward O. Ord, USA, replaces Maj. Gen. John A. McClernand, USA, in the command of the 13th US Army Corps.

June 19, 1864 - Following an hour-long battle off the coast of France, the CSS Alabama sinks after being hit by several rounds from the guns of the USS Kearsarge. An English yacht rescues the crew.

June 19, 1864 - Skirmish at Hahn's Farm, near Waldron, AR, where the Yankees attack and rout the Texas Rangers.

June 19, 1864 - Skirmish at Iron Bridge, the Indian Territory.

June 19, 1864 - Affair at Bayou Grossetete, LA, where the Yankees drive in the Rebels and capture 100 head of cattle plus horses and mules.

June 19, 1864 - Affair near Petersburg, WV, as Capt. McNeill, and his Virginia Partisans initially meet with success but are driven off.

June 19, 1864 - The siege of Petersburg is ongoing.

June 19, 1865 - Brig. Gen. Thomas J. McKean, USA, is assigned to the command of the District of Southwest Missouri.

June 19, 1865 - General Robert S. Granger declares Emancipation Day in Texas, the date when all Negroes are officially set free. Now celebrated as Juneteenth
 
June 19th Events of the War:
June 19th 1861 it was a Wednesday the following events happened on this day:
- Francis H. Pierpont was named Provisional Governor of Federal Virginia and what was to become West Virginia by a convention meeting in Wheeling.
- In Missouri Pro - Secessionists attacked the pro - Union home guards, largely Germans at Cole Camp. The Unionists were badly defeated and as many as 15 were killed.
- Chief John Ross of the Cherokees reminded his people in the Indian Territory of obligations to the United States Under Treaties.


June 19th, 1862 which was a Thursday the following events happened on this day:
- Slavery in Territories is prohibited. President Lincoln signed into law a measure prohibiting slavery in United States Territories.
- Skirmish near Richmond on the Charles City Road
- Today also marks the 159th Anniversary of the Skirmish at Knight's Cove Arkansas.
- President Jefferson Davis wrote to Governor John J. Pettus of Mississippi "My efforts to provide for the military wants of your section have been sadly frustrated."


June 19th, 1863 Which was a Friday the following events happened on this day:
- In the east Lt. General Richard Ewell Commanding the 2nd Army Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia moved north of the Potomac toward Pennsylvania while Lt. General General A.P. Hill Commanding the 3rd Corps and Lt. General James Longstreet followed from Virginia.
- Federal probes toward the passes of the Blue Ridge, including one at Middleburg Virginia have been beaten off.
- Fighting erupted at Coldwater near Hernando Mississippi and at Panola Mississippi.
- Confederate raiding took place on Bayou Goula Louisiana.
- The Depot was destroyed at Lenoir's Station The destruction was led by Union Army Colonel William P. Sanders in the attack not only was the depot destroyed but also the General Store and Confederate Military Supplies.


June 19th, 1864 which was a Saturday the following events happened on this day:
- The U.S.S. Kearsarge sunk the C.S.S. Alabama off Cherbourg France. Admiral Semmes reported losses of 9 killed and 21 wounded on the C.S.S. Alabama.
- In the Atlanta Campaign it was discovered General Joseph E. Johnston had moved into a new line despite continuing rains and mud and have moved forward to test their opponents.

Today marks the 161st​ anniversary of the Battle of Cole Camp. This battle was part of the operations to control Missouri. The battle was fought on June 19, 1861. Location of the battle was Benton County, Missouri.

Today marks the 158th​ anniversary of the Battle of Cherbourg. This was one of the battles of the civil war fought on foreign waters. The battle took place on June 19, 1864. Location of the battle was off of Cherbourg, France in the English Channel.
