For me, one who has never visited any ACW battlefield, I found this site really informative. The panoramic shots help to provide perspective and give some idea of the importance terrain played in the outcome of many ACW battles. I almost felt like I was at gettysburg when I looked at the panoramas. Well worth a visit to this site.

Been thinking, Robert, that this site ought to be in The Eastern Theater forum and stickied. The link is all Eastern Battlefields, is it not?

Thanks, AUG. That complicates things. I don't know how to move it to two places. I'll figure out something with RobertP's permission.

Well, you could move it to Civil War Photography or The Civil War Traveler's Companion and if not that then Battlefield Preservation.

This site is one of the best that I have seen! Looks at the smaller battles as well as the major campaigns. if you are planning to travel to any of the battlefields that John has covered, review his site before going.

You might take a stroll through the videos at http://joeryancivilwar.com/Civil-War-Video-Battlewalks/

There are many on location Battlewalks. As you said, the terrain has alot to do with the outcome of battles.
