Was curious if anyone has anything on him? he was son of Illinois Governor Thomas Carlin, He joined 2nd div MSG as 1st Lt company B Montecello Grays of 1st Cav Regt.

He's apparently authorized on nov 29th by special orders no 109 to recruit for the MO army, Hes captured in Paris Mo on Christmas day 1861 which is somewhat unusual in that most recruiters never were sent to the spring of 62, yet here he is in northern Mo in the dead of the winter. Apparently he escapes Gratiot Prison,
At some point hes listed a captain with a consolidated MO/TX Cavalry regt and some point he apparently captured and sent to Camp Butler prison in Springfield Il where he dies on Feb 25th 1865

His seems an interesting story, but it been hard to find more then bits and pieces, so curious if anyone else has anything.
