1864-Adm.David Porter attacks Confederate Fort on Cape Fear,Gen.Alfred Terry lands an amphibious force which captures the fort.
1865-Edward Everett dies.

1867-Illinois ratifies the 14th Admendment.
1868-Ohio rescind it's ratification of the 14th Admendment when Peace Democrats gain control of the legislature-Federal Government refuses to recognizes the action and counts Ohio as for ratification.

Massachusetts holds a state disunion convention called by Thomas Higginson, Frank Bird, and Thomas Earle claiming that "...the Union was a failure as being a hopeless attempt to unite under one government two antagonistic systems of society which diverge more widely every year."
