To go with a question about what a Quitman rifle which I posted in the weapons forum. This is a description, form the Constitution of the Smith-Quitman Rifles, of the enlisted uniform adopted by the Smith-Quitman Rifles of Jackson Mississippi in early 1861.

Grey woolen shirt trimmed with green braid 1/2 wide in a piece across the pockets on each breast, and around the collar and each cuff, with two stripes up the front from the waist to neck. Blue cottenade trousers with green worsted braid 1/2 down the outer seams of each leg. Black felt hat six inches high, three inch brim, with lefe side hoodedup and fastened with large military button. White Berlin gloves.
