The newest issue of Miltary Images Magazine arrived today. In the article Hidden in Plain Sight, Shelby Harriel and Mark Hidlebaugh discuss if a photograph of captured Confederate soldiers includes Private Jane Perkin, a Cofederate soldier who was also a prisoner of war who spent 10 months as a POW.

Hariel and Hidlebaugh use an enlargement to show who the believe to possibly by Private Jane Perkins. They tell a nice story of Jane Perkins, but I am not sure they have convinced me that it is her in the photograph of the group of captured Confederate soldiers.

I was wondering what other forum members who subscribe to Military Images think? Did Harriel and Hidlebaugh convince you? What did you think about the authors contention that the Jane Perkins at Hollywood Cemetery with a Military Headstone is the wrong Jane Perkins?

In the magazine the photograph is listed as "Courtesy Heritage Auctions, HA.com". It is the photograph of captured Confederate soldiers at White House Landing which was published in vol. 3 of The Photographic History of the Civil War in Ten Volumes by Francis Trevelyan.

The same issue of Military Images Magazine ( Spring 2019) has a nice photograph of Miss Emma Kline being guarded by two Union soldiers after her arrest for smuggling at Vicksburg.

This image has been used to research Confederate uniforms more than once. It seems a bit odd no one had seen a woman here. Still the article is worth reading.

They comment on the hat as being non-regulation, but if you look at the picture, there are so many different types of hat , that it
makes nonsense of the statement.
