Well, perhaps ground penetrating radar could provide an answer if you have an approximate location but there may not be much left to find after 158 years.
158 years and a Relic Hunter living next door.
Richard III was found under a parking lot a number of years ago. Twisted spine, battle wounds and all so maybe there is hope. Although his kids erecting such a nice marker for him I would think that they would double check to make sure.

That is a beautiful stone and bust marker. I like the hat he wears. I'm guessing that he really wore a hat like that. That would be a nice accurate portrayal rather than a Regulation cap or brimmed hat.
Of course !

As I'm sure you're well aware, very few Confederates followed the official uniform regulations.
( except for a few little junior officers in the ANV) :bounce:

Contrary to popular belief, the CSA was never really short of uniforms. The vast majority of rank and file, along with officers ... found such official uniforms to be uncomfortable.

Most preferred to wear the homemade versions their Wives, Mothers, Sisters and other local ladies made for them.

Regarding the Garrott monument at Vicksburg, his sons paid for it ... so I'm pretty sure it's an accurate representation of their Dad.

You make some good points. Amazing that King Richard III was still there!
