Does anyone have an order of battle for Lee's Cheat Mountain Campaign?

I know the 6 brigade commanders are BG H. R. Jackson (No Idea, who had the brigade could be E. Johnson or W. B. Taliaferro), BG D. S. Donelson, BG S. R. Anderson, Col Albert Rust, Col Jesse S. Burke and Col William Gilham.

There were 2 Divisions under BG W. W. Loring and H. R. Jackson.

Cheat Mountain information is hard to find. I found some books in the reference room at the local library years ago. I took notes, but don't know where they are now. Nor do I remember the titles.

This is what I have come up with for an order of battle.

Army of the Northwest: BG William W. Loring (In Division Command); BG Robert E. Lee

Jackson’s Brigade: BG Henry R. Jackson (In Division Command
12th Georgia: Col Edward Johnson (In Brigade Command)
23rd Virginia: Col William B. Taliaferro (In Brigade Command; No idea what brigade)
25th Virginia: Col George A. Porterfield
31st Virginia
23rd Virginia Battalion

Donelson’s Brigade: BG Daniel S. Donelson
8th Tennessee
16th Tennessee: Col John H. Savage
1st Georgia
14th Georgia: Col Arnoldus V. Brumby; Ltc Felix L. Price

Rust's Brigade: Col Albert Rust
3rd Arkansas
37th Virginia: Col Samuel G. Fulkerson
44th Virginia: Col William C. Scott
9th Virginia Battalion

Anderson’s Brigade: BG Samuel R. Anderson
1st Tennessee: Col George Maney
4th Tennessee
7th Tennessee

Burke’s Brigade: Col Jesse S. Burke
20th Virginia: Ltc John Pegram
42nd Virginia
52nd Virginia

Gilham’s Brigade: Col William Gilham
21st Virginia
48th Virginia
58th Virginia
1st Virginia Battalion

Hi. Looks good from memory but my AOR is the 14th Georgia. Lee had a very undefined role in western Virginia - there primarily to make the brigadiers (Loring, Wise, and Floyd) place nice with each other. Brumby was regimental commander for the 14th for the entire time in western Virginia. Price was court-martialed and didn't do much with the regiment during that time, although he was elected colonel when the regiment moved to northern Virginia (he ran unopposed). Best books are Hunter Lesser's and Jack Zinn's. You can access some books on the TN units in Donelson's brigade on Internet Archive. Good luck with your research.

The world's greatest expert on the campaign is Charles Poland who lives in Chantilly VA

5th Bde (Col. Wm B Taliaferro)

Rice's Battery
Lee's Battery

6th Bde (Col JS Burke)

(20th Virginia had been effectively destroyed in July, and on 10th September it was formally disbanded and the remaining personnel transferred to other regts)

The 1st and 5th Bdes were divided in two for the operation, creating some confusion. Col Rust had half the 1st Bde for example.
