Soldier Wrote of Unclean Living Condition
A Georgia soldier writing home to his wife told of the less than sanitary conditions he lived under, and hoped a quick end to the war.
“…There are about a hundred of us here now. We are in a large room and will have to sleep on the floor which I assure you is not noted for cleanliness, but anyway will do a soldier. We will take the cars in the morning at 5 o’clock. … There is strong talk of peace here on the strength of it. God grant it may come. … Source: Jeffrey C.
