ice calks

Calks were steel blades about 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch with about a 3/4 inch round or square base with about 7/16 threaded or tapered peg which was inserted into the horseshoe to give the horse better footing in slippery conditions. depending on conditions just the back shoes sometime all 4. sometime 2 per shoe sometimes 4.
There were probably hundreds of styles shapes and sizes
 
I don't have picture or know how t o show one. Hardware or Blacksmith catalogs up to WWII should have pictures.
Some of our hourse people should be able to post a picture.
