GRAPHIC How a Kitchen Table Reveals the Horrors of War

Thanks for sharing this @Stiles/Akin

Interesting article. I've been to the National Museum of Civil War Medicine and seen the Stickley Farm (privately owned) from afar. I never knew the table at the NMCWM was from that farm.

Thanks for the post which is very informative. I live in VA and have been up and down the Shenandoah valley many times but havenot heard this story before. My husband and I are going to stop by the museum when we go on our bi-annual trip to Md. Route 11 is a beautiful drive. Where is the Stickley Farm located on rte. 11? I would like to drive by it some time.

About half way between Strasburg and Middletown. As you head North on the Valley Pike (US 11) it will be on your left, just before you cross Cedar Creek. There's a pull off on the right (visible in the image below) with some interpretive markers. If you are brave you can scoot down behind the guardrail and see the ruins of the Mill. I speak from the voice of experience when I say it is not an endeavor for the faint of heart.......lots of traffic on US 11 and some of it big trucks. :frantic:
