This large lithograph was printed a year after the Civil War had ended. Made after a painting by Pittsburgh-area artist Trevor McClurg. The print shows an injured Union veteran returning to his home. The sentimental scene would have been very appealing to families in the north who were welcoming back their fathers, sons, and brothers. The scene includes wonderful interior details, including a patterned rug, candlesticks and a shelf clock on the mantle, a large map hanging behind the door, and a glass-front bookcase full of books at the left.
