For several years the flying of the Confederate battle flag was big news. As of late the subject is not often in the news. So is this an issue that the general public has stopped caring about? Now that emotions have cooled down, can the American general public discuss the issue in a calm and reasonable way, or are Americans still to emotionally connected to this subject to be objectionable?

I have serious doubts that despite all the arguing in the past five year that very many people changed their minds on the subject. I would predict that the majority of Americans don't much care one way or the other and over the last five years have much cared. I do wonder if the issue will become major news again in the near future.

People on CivilWarTalk might care, but what percentage of the American population care? I guess at some point the subject will emerge yet again.
