In Kentucky, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, California, Missouri, and New York they do separate it from George Washington's President's Day holiday. In 1873 or 1874 Julius Francis (d. 1881), a Buffalo druggist, made it his life's mission to honor Lincoln. In my reference to Confederate women I was also including their descendants and slightly joking at the same time. According to one blog that tracks the holiday, in 1940 24 states and the District Of Columbia observed Lincoln’s Birthday. https://www.whatsoproudlywehail.org...s-and-traditions-of-lincolns-birthday-holiday https://constitutioncenter.org/blog/how-abraham-lincoln-lost-his-birthday-holiday/
