When posting a Civil War book or movie, or commenting on a book or movie that others have posted, it's important to follow some guidelines to ensure that your thoughts are understood.
Voting & Replying to Favorites
First and foremost, if you like the book or movie that a person has posted, upvote the thread. If you want to have further discussions on the topic, that's awesome, we encourage that, but don't forget to vote for the book or movie!
You can vote for a suggestion by clicking/tapping on the grey arrow at the top-right of the first post on most medium and larger screens, or at the bottom of the first post on small cell phone style screens:
Once your vote has been recorded, the counter will increase and it and the arrow will change colors:
Books and Movies can be sorted by the number of votes they have received in the forum by using the "Popular" tab!
Threads with a large number of votes will bubble up to the top. Use the Prefixes to Narrow your search and refine your results!
Posting New Suggestions
The most important (and most challenging) thing to do when posting a new book or movie is to search for existing books and movies. Reducing duplicates helps us see the true interest in particular media. It's a lot harder to see how much interest there is in a particular piece of media if it's split across 10 threads instead of one focused one.
What You Can and Can't Post In This Forum
You can post any Book or Movie, or TV Series, Fiction or Non-Fiction, that either talks about or takes place during the American Civil War, the People and the Actions they took during the war, The Equipment, the politics, the human interest stories.
We prefer to only include media that has "one exclusive story" in each thread. As an example, please don't post a trilogy of three books in one post, instead you would post each book in it's own thread.
We also don't want broad history books, for instance, please, don't post something like a "World History Book" that only includes a chapter on the Civil War, because it's scope is much broader than just the American Civil War.
New Thread Format
Please use the recommended format, as shown below for all suggestions!

Finally, please keep to one suggested book or movie per thread. Thanks!
