My apologies if this is the wrong forum.

I, regretfully, am liquidating my moderate collection. Primarily firearms, edged weapons, & leather.

I am in Houston. Can anyone recommend the best way to sell the collection?

Collectors Firearms (at the corner of Richmond and Fondren) might be able to assist you in marketing your collection, for a fee of course. There is also Heritage Auctions in Dallas. Their last Civil War auction was a disappointment to me, but usually they have some nice lots and typically bring reasonable prices. They will be having another auction this December.

There are quite a few collectors here on the forums that might be interested in some of your items. Being as there are no prohibitions on period items that may be sold/traded here that might be an option for you. Plus you won't be charged a fee.

Then you have online listings such as Gunbroker and Gunauction, both of which charge a sales fee. Armslist, Gunsinternational and Gunsamerica are classifieds and do not charge a listing fee to my knowledge.

Cheers,
Garrett

Garrett,

I wasn't optimistic, but I gave Collector's Firearms a try anyway on a couple of pieces, telling them there was more. I really did not appreciate their attitude. As I suspected their philosphy is to buy very low and sell very high.

Thank you for suggesting the websites, but from looking at them they do not look like a place to sell edged weapons or leather (Pistol Belts).

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Not sure if you are Facebook and/or if you are comfortable selling on there, but there are several buy/sell/trade pages where lots of stuff gets moved. I have purchased several things online without and problem, going through paypal etc.
