Captain William D. Ballentine (or Ballantine) of the 2nd Florida Infantry was wounded and captured at Gettysburg and so far as I can find spent the remainder of the War imprisoned. He was one of the "Immortal 600" held in front of Union artillery batteries near Charleston SC. Unit records indicate Ballantine was promoted to Major and possibly Lieutenant Colonel while in captivity. He died in Florida in 1907.
