Well done Zella, enjoy your new role as a forum host.Hey, everybody,
I'm honored to be the new host of the forum. Genealogy is one of the reasons I got interested in the Civil War, and all the helpful folks on this forum have helped me immensely with my own family research.
I'm looking forward to reading everyone's questions and findings. I'm also hoping to start some more discussion-based threads about our Civil War ancestors on the forum.
Please let me know if there are any regular features you'd like to see or if you have any other suggestions for the forum.
Respectfully, Your Most Obedient Servant,
Zella

Hopefully everyone is well, but congratulations. I have just begun to research my families history and I can say it’s not easy, extremely fun and exciting but definitely not easy. Thanks so much, everyone. You're all very kind.
Unfortunately, I've had a family emergency and am going to be away from the CWT forums until probably next week. But please do carry on posting about genealogy, though! I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone's posts when things calm down for me.
Thank you. Unfortunately, it's not had a good resolution.Hopefully everyone is well, but congratulations. I have just begun to research my families history and I can say it’s not easy, extremely fun and exciting but definitely not easy.

Hi, Virginia Dave, I must confess, I don't have a lot of experience with looking for photos, but I suspect a local historical society might have something if there are none that have been passed down through the family.Thank you for giving your time for this topic. I am new at doing research, and am still learning where to search etc. There is so much out there it is difficult for me to find direction. I look forward to your postings. My immediate problem is location photos or images of my ancestors that fought for the South. Most of my ancestors were from Patrick, Carroll (Grayson) County, Henry and Smith counties of Virginia. I am related to JEB. At the top of my search list is for more information on Col. Legrand Shockley CSA that was KIA in the first battle of Saltville, Virginia. I have his history and a photo of his headstone, but no photos of him or his wife. Were is the best place to search for information like this?
Thank you!I have a feeling you'll be an inexhaustible source of help, loved to have bumped into a Zella 20 years ago!
