Hi... I just discovered this site today. I have a diverse family history back ground evolving around the Civil War. My Great Grandfather William Young came via the "Trail of Tears" to Indian Territory in 1838. He served as a Sgt. in the Indian Home Guard 2nd Regiment. Fought at the " Battle of Honey Springs". Another 2 Great Grandfather Charles G. Coleman fought with Wisconsin (12th I think). Became a lawman after the War and he and his brother were first officers killed in the line of duty in Wisconsin in 1881. GAR in Durand WI was named for him. Another 2 Great Grandfather Chas. A. Bowen from New York was registered for the draft and then I find records than his service was fulfilled by another (by proxy??) not sure where to find more info. 2nd Great Grandfather B. Carroll Tolbert moved from TN to Hardin Co Illinois. Fought on the Union side from Ill. Lastly, another 2 Great Grandfather from TN Calvin Morris, I think he fought for the Confederates and was killed . I look forward to exploring the different forums and expanding my knowledge and understanding. Thanks in advance..
