Great Teacher Resources

You seem like a good teacher. I've though about pursuing a career in teaching but I can't get in front people. Being around a lot of people is something I have to force myself to do, otherwise I stay away from them except a few close friends. Either way I'm still planning on getting a master's in American history at Washing State, probably going to pursue a career in the NPS. Might be hard now with the government hiring freeze that has now been inplaced.

Free, good information from a former teacher and history major in college in most historical eras, ancient and modern. Good to use to beef up curriculum with technology and interactive activities.
Been using his site for a while now. I actually have a number of teacher-developed sites bookmarked that I use. His is pretty good for my Ancient Civ class.

I use mrdonn for both my 6th grade ancient civ and 5th grade us history. Great Stuff!!! Please feel free to share those bookmarked sites here. Thanks husker.

Here are some of the sites I have bookmarked. I use occasionally when I want something different than my own created lessons. I find it useful to help me keep my teaching fresh and different.

This is one I've used for Ancient Civ

There is A LOT of info on this one. Look at the bottom right to scroll pages. Ancient Civ, Geography, American History...Great stuff.

Thanks Tennessee. You should try it because you have the knowledge and want to impart it upon others. Getting in front of people gets easier over time.

I can't remember if I have mentioned this or not, but I've gotten a number of great teacher curriculums from National Parks. The latest is a middle school curriculum from Cumberland Gap in the Civil War, created by nearby Lincoln Memorial University. What's great is I have never had to pay for any of these.

But the Cumberland Gap one is special to me because it uses a letter from the surgeon of the 22nd Kentucky Infantry as part of its curriculum.

Virtually taking my 4th graders to Gettysburg with Occulus goggles using Google Expedition tomorrow. I cannot wait!

Stuck with you kid all day???
No idea what to use to help him or her with history???
These sites are for you.
Feel free to ask for more help and I'd be glad to give it.

More links I use in school or remotely as a teacher, parent or student:

Mountain Man, I had this issue as well. I was never comfortable in front of people. We tend to think of speaking and presenting as an innate trait, you either have it or you don’t. This is not the case. There are many different classes and courses to help with public speaking and presenting. These, for the most part, are learned traits. The most important thing is to practice.
