The Gettysburg National Military Park begins its 2020 winter programs tomorrow with its first Reading Adventure of the season! This is a popular free series of Civil War history story-readings and related activities for families with children ages 4-10. Events take place at the Visitor Center at 11 a.m., and the series runs through Feb. 29. (Of special note to friends of the CWT "Four Footed Friends of the Civil War" Forum, one of the books to be presented next week is a recently published children's story of Sallie, canine mascot of the 11th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, "The Eternal Soldier: The True Story of How a Dog Became a Civil War Hero," by Allison Crotzer Kimmel.) The Saturday and Sunday afternoon lectures for adults start on Jan. 11 and continue through March 22, with a terrific line-up of speakers and subjects. Details for both the Winter Lecture Series and Reading Adventures are here.
