General John F. Reynolds

I had the chance to visit his grave in Lancaster, Pa. Not what I expected he is in a family plot that wasn't kept up very well by the cemetery.
It was when I visited there in August of 2014; his naval officer brother is buried next to his grave.

I'd like to also point out that Reynolds' photo in the OP shows him as a Colonel of Artillery ca. 1860 and was likely taken during or around the time of his participation in the so-called Mormon War in which he commanded the 3rd Artillery Regiment whose insignia is displayed on the side of his grave marker.

Amazing man and excellent General. Just to point out, there really isn’t any hard evidence that he was offered command of the AOP.
