That information regarding Temple is so helpful, much appreciate, as I research my ancestors, I have been schooled, as I did not know many of these specifics of the civil war and am grateful to find Surrounding my ancestor. Thank you!
You will find what I know of Temple's military service here, on p. 260: https://archive.org/details/historicalregist01heitrich/page/260/mode/2up?q=buford

After Temple was captured, Uncle John sent NB a letter advising him of his son's capture that was ultimately published in the Rock Island Argus newspaper. You should be able to locate it using one of the newspaper archive subscription services.

You will find a description of the skirmish in which Temple Buford was captured in this regimental history of the 5th US Cavalry. Temple is mentioned by name: https://archive.org/details/acrosscontinentw00pricrich/page/116/mode/2up?q=Buford

You will find a brief biography of him in the same volume: https://archive.org/details/acrosscontinentw00pricrich/page/558/mode/2up?q=Buford
Thank you, I was trying to figure out what happened to him after he was captured. Looks like he survived the civil war and passed away in 1903 In Washington state.I found conflicting information that Edwina Ann Morrison his wife, listed on census as widowed and found some information that temple documented on the census as divorced. Seems Temple may have ran into some personal hardships around l863-1880. Also the Buford family as whole seems to have ran into some hardships as well, given Thomas Buford’s records and N.B Buford going bankrupt etc. and the loss of General John Buford Jr.,

There was quite a stigma around divorce in the 19th century and it's not unusual for people to declare themselves widowed instead of divorced.
