Are these miniature colored photographs OR real drawings on ivory, which used to be done, btw? Either way, the are truly beautiful.

It was my understanding that these were photographs printed directly on ivory and then colored. The attached photo seems to have been made during the same sitting. Notice the button that is undone. It also appears on the ivory miniature.
