With full subscriptions costing almost $200, many genealogists head to their local libraries to get access to the information on Ancestry. Ancestry has long restricted this access to use in the library only and not allowed at home use through library websites. Due to the Corona Virus, Ancestry has allowed ProQuest (the company that acts as an interface between Ancestry and libraries) to permit remote access.

Long story short - you may now be able to get full access to Ancestry through your library website for free.

Every library is different so how this works across the USA I can't say. But - if your library has previously had access to Ancestry at computer terminals inside the building, it is worth your while to see if you now have remote access (assuming you want to do some genealogy research, and really, who doesn't?).

Sorry to keep adding notes - this does include international records so if, like me, you only pay for access to US records now is your chance to look at some things you can't normally get to!
