Did the majority of founding fathers envision the ultimate demise of slavery?

The founders held many different views, so it is nearly impossible to answer this question in a singular "yes or no" fashion. Some did, some did not.

let me clarify the question then and ask Did the majority of founding fathers envision the ultimate demise of slavery?

Yes, I believe the majority of them did. But they weren't listening to the Founding Fathers from South Carolina and Georgia.

I'm not even sure in the validity of the question. Their views during the Revolution, the Articles era and the forming of the Constitution were all before the newly improved cotton gin really took hold. I'm positive their views would have been vastly different had the spread of cotton happened prior to the founding of the country.
