Here is another Gardner image from July 6, 1863 that contains a dead Confederate soldier that is rather difficult to pick out. Here on the slope of the Triangular Field below Devil's Den is a rock formation that created a small cave used by the Confederate soldiers for shade and protection from Union guns on Little Round Top. In front of the "cave rock" on the left is some firewood gathered by the men for a fire probably to make coffee. . Frassanito concluded that the Rebels occupied this area throughout July 3rd. To the right of the rock is a portion of the Tri-field rock wall. Somewhat difficult to see lying in front of the wall head towards the camera is a dead soldier. Notice his slouch hat as well as the prop rifle that is seen in several of Gardner's photos taken that day. I took the similar now image two years ago.
