I picked this up for 50 bucks and I think I did well. Its an original made in Germany with US and E. Pluribus Unum. and US on the other side. It looks like shark or some kind of fish skin. The Ricasso B. Pasouale & Sons San Francisco Cal. I believe its a 1872 indian wars Artillary officer sword. I have no idea exactly what it is or value so any help appreciated. I bought the same gauge wire brass that was under the handle broken off and twisted it up with a drill and replaced the wire. I did not alter anything so no issues if I can get some origial wire but I doubt I can.

It is not quite as old as you think. The correct name is B.Pasquale, the B is for Benoit. He owned the business with his brother Ernest. The company started in 1856 in the toy business, later they did a profitable trade in flags and military goods. The name was changed in 1892 to B.Pasquale and Sons and in 1901 became B.Pasquale Co. Inc., so yours came during this short period. The company was still in San Fran 1971-1980 at 2550 Marin Street (might still be in business???)

Thanks. I removed the parts of the handle. and under the handle on the tang it says Germany. A lot of swords from what I have read were imported from Germany, France and England. I could not pass it up for 50 bucks. I sold the repro, on another thread that was a old copy of the 1840 artillery saber for twice that and its a copy. It will hang next to my Mansfield and Lamb and Ames 1860 Light Cav sabers.
