My ggg grandfather was with the union, 6th Missouri Cavalry. Please forgive my ignorance, but does cavalry have a regimental flag? If not, than what kind do they have?

I know of quite a few with infantry, but researching his outfit and never seeing a picture of a flag, it just dawned on me that I need to ask the members of this forum. Thanks in advance.

You asked in the right place, Sarah. But your first response was the wrong one. Hang on. Someone will know.

THey would have carried both a national and regimental flag.

Dyers has this to say about the 6th Missouri. There were two so I'm not certain which.

I know he was not militia. I have spent countless hours looking for a picture of the flag. He has been a tough one to research, and except for what is listed in Dyers, I can not find much more about the 6th.

Thanks for your help gentlemen!
