Number 1: Johnny Clem,

Clem was a kid who became a sergeant for his efforts during the battle of Shiloh, mainly for shooting a colonel

2: Frances Clayton

Frances Clayton was a women whom enlisted in the Union Army under the pseudonym “Jack Williams” in order to serve alongside her husband during the Civil War. Aka by disguising herself as a man to get into the army

3: Joseph Broadhead,

Joseph was a immigrant who worked as an engineer for a railroad company. During the battle of Gettysburg he went into the action to retrieve beans he had planted due to his belief that the soldiers would steal them.

4: Unknown

This man whom is unknown was a soldier for the union, my ancestor likely had witnessed this man walking up Cheatham Hill at Kennesaw mountain with a pan on his head and other kitchen wear. The enemy’s thought this man to be a spy but both sides would soon realize that the man was just insane.

5: Wilmer McLean,

McLean was a man who attempted to live a peaceful life, but his house was damaged at the first battle of bull run. He then had the evacuate again after another battle. He attempted to rid the war from his life and it kinda did as his house was used for Lee’s surrender

Agreed - a lot more than five. Hopefully others will post about some of the other odd bods.

What's also weird is that the @Orion.M.E avatar and details appear under his post rather than on the left-hand side like everyone else. Why is that?

Quite untrue; it's now pretty certain he was never at Shiloh; he was, however made an honorary sergeant of his regiment. The shooting incident supposedly happened at Chickamauga, but his "victim" apparently survived. For more:
