Explore the hardships and deprivation of the War featuring living history presentations by navy and artillery both Union and Confederate. Demonstrations, mustering of the troops and artillery firing will occur on The Green and at Waterfront Park. The Tar River Dulcimers will be performing songs of the period. The Tar Heel Civilians will present programs that bring the civilian aspect and how the War affected everyday life in our region. Junior Docents will engage children in hands-on-history activities including dances, games and chores of the period. Personal collections of area historians of Civil War era artifacts will be on display in the lobby of the museum, including military and civilian artifacts. Local historians will have displays and discuss various battles and military personnel with visitors.
