According to the Maryland State Archives website, James McCarter was a Episcopal minister
who was born in New York City in 1833. He began his ministry in the Maryland/Delaware
area where he became an advocate for abolition much to the ire of some of the Episcopal
officials from slaveholding regions. He continued to speak out against slavery right up until
the eve of the Civil War.

McCarter was instrumental in the formation of the 93rd Pennsylvania Infantry and became
its first Colonel. He was wounded at Fair Oaks and returned to duty and eventually obtained
the rank of Brigadier General and was placed in charge of the defenses around Baltimore in
late 1863. He survived the war and retired from the ministry in 1883 living in Maryland until
his death in 1900.

Congrats to @LoriAnn and a BIG thank you to @Mike Serpa!!! I have to say some gentlemen in my neck of the woods are renewing the McCarter look with hair gel. Apparently this look is so old it's new again - especially on Saturday nights. :speechless:
that means you are expected to stalk those gentlemen and take photos

@Mike Serpa you should be the one to get a prize - that was awesome again!
I was surprised to read my name in the ranking, I had totally forgotten that we would get points also!

And what do you think of this prize for @LoriAnn - a golden comb!

Congratulations, LoriAnn!!
Thanks, FF! I think LoriAnn deserves more than a golden comb. Maybe a crown.

Congratulation @LoriAnn :dance: You did it! A crown/comb well deserved  It's been a 'hair raising' ordeal...McCarter obviously thought so

Excited I rated a mention @Mike Serpa :O I honestly didn't think I was still in the running. See you at LoriAnn's for drinks later
You tied with two others for seventh place!!
Don't start the party without me!
