Farnsworth's Charge

Name applied to ill-advised Union cavalry action at the south end of Gettysburg battlefield on July 3, 1863, resulting in heavy casualties. Named after Elon Farnsworth, commander of the 1st Vermont Cavalry, who was killed in the action.
