A question for those of you who live fire 1861 Springfields, NS-SSA, etc.: What is a good distance to sight it in or zero it in at? 30yds, 50yds? Also Please explain the rear sight of my old Euroarms 1861 Springfield please. It was found in a close and never shot and been locked up in that closet since the late '70s or '80s. Anyway, the rear sight's "V" has the basic cut 0ut, then at the bottom of it another tiny cut out with tiny shoulders at top edge of the tiny cut out. Is that authentic like originals? If so is it supposed to be used a certain way? I have always just sighted in rifles with the tip of my front sight even with top of rear sight notch. I guess when I fire this thing here'fore long I will try putting the top of front sight in the bottom tiny one first and see how it shoots and then move up and down until I get it hitting where I am aiming.
Thanks,
