Don't Hurry Me Down to Hades: The Civil War In The Words of Those Who Lived It

Is it mainly a collection of letters? What is it like?

She lectured on the Texas Brigade, is that mostly who it is about?

No, it's not about the Texas Brigade, unfortunately. It is a collection of letters, but far more than that, it starts with letters but uses them to tell the wider story of the war's beginning and its impact on both those who fought it and their families. I'm only part way through but so far, I love it.

As I recall, she started working on the Texas Brigade...and found so much good stuff she couldn't resist. I can't resist her writing. Now you see why Sam Houston's history faculty (where she was when I had her) is so fantastic. Every day is like a danged playground for those of us who love history.
