"Dixie" or "Battle Hymn of the Republic," which do you like better?

I played a little fiddle at a book signing at the Historic Lotz House in Franklin Tennessee. I play there a lot on Fridays for the tourists as the walk up the veranda. I like playing both tunes together. Which is your favorite?

Dixie is a "bright", and "happy" sounding tune, but in reality, Battle Hymn of the Republic actually has something serious to say that makes sense. All that "Look away" in Dixie gets silly after while. I do like the Yank version, though!:smug:

Dixie has more pep to me the Battle Hymn of the Republic is more of a formal ballet. I have a hard time picking between the two, both are meaningful and I enjoy both but if I have to choose one I say Dixie. But let's not forget Bonnie Blue Flag which a real toe tapper for me.

Being a southerner and just an admirer of the song I gotta go with Dixie

Obviously Dixie.

But in true seriousness, I think something really appealing about Dixie is that it can be played slowly and tear your heart out. Then the next moment, it can be played quickly and turn into good fun.
