I played a little fiddle at a book signing at the Historic Lotz House in Franklin Tennessee. I play there a lot on Fridays for the tourists as the walk up the veranda. I like playing both tunes together. Which is your favorite?

If you're interested in my novel about the Battle of Island No. you can get it in the links below, or at the Lotz House!

I've actually always loved "An American Trilogy" by Elvis. Includes a haunting mix of "Dixie," "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and "All My Trials."

My Alma Mater, The University of Mississippi . . . aka Ole Miss used to play an almost identical version entitled 'From Dixie With Love'.

They don't play it these days, but I won't get into that.

But here's how a pre football game tailgate used to be at Ole Miss.

The poor dude from California only wants to film our band.

Unfortunately, he has to first maneuver through our drunk students and alumns.

:bounce:

But in the end, I think he was pleased.

I have to agree with that. I have also heard that played by massed military bands and bagpipes, .don't like the Scottish pipe on their own, but this arrangement was very special. I have rarely heard anything so moving. I tried to find it on youtube, as I know the Tattoo in Berlin was recorded but without success.

Thanks for.posting. I love the traditions of different schools and the marching bands on a football Saturday. Would love to make it to Ole Miss for a game someday. Back to the original post, I like both songs and think they both have their place, but i have to give the nod to "Dixie" also.
